Lakeshore Records will release the single, “Little Red Riding Hood” performed by Valen, a four-track EP arranged and produced by Ben Lovett, available digitally on Friday, September 11, 2020. The song is taken from the forthcoming full soundtrack to The Wolf of Snow Hollow. The upcoming Orion Classics horror thriller written, directed and starring Jim Cummings will be released in select theaters and On Demand October 9, 2020.

Lakeshore Records is set to release a 4-track EP of newly imagined versions of the classic song “Little Red Riding Hood” digitally on September 9. Originally performed by Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs in 1966, this version is given a seductive and thoroughly haunting treatment by producer and Snow Hollow composer Ben Lovett (The Ritual, The Wind), alongside the vocals of indie artist Valen. Included on the EP are instrumental, acapella, and a version featuring only Valen’s vocals and Lovett’s orchestral arrangement. Each individual track is striking in its own right, but the variety of configurations also acts as an invitation from both Lovett and the label for fans to create their own remixes of the song. “Great songs can be done so many different ways, I thought it would be cool to encourage people to take these parts and make one of their own,” added Lovett.

“Little Red Riding Hood” is taken from the forthcoming Lakeshore Records original motion picture soundtrack album to The Wolf of Snow Hollow to be released digitally by Orion Classics on October 9. Written, directed and starring Jim Cummings, The Wolf of Snow Hollow will be released in select theaters and On Demand October 9.

A small-town sheriff, struggling with a failed marriage, a rebellious daughter, and a lackluster department, is tasked with solving a series of brutal murders that are occurring on the full moon. As he’s consumed by the hunt for the killer, he struggles to remind himself that there’s no such thing as werewolves…

The Wolf of Snow Hollow is written and directed by Jim Cummings (Thunder Road) who stars alongside Riki Lindhome (Knives Out, “Garfunkel and Oates”), Jimmy Tatro (“American Vandal,” Bad Education), Chloe East (“Kevin (Probably) Saves the World”) and the late Academy Award nominee Robert Forster (Jackie Brown, The Descendants) in his final feature role.

Speaking about the versions created for the EP, Lovett added: “The idea to cover “Little Red Riding Hood” for a movie about a Werewolf seemed too obvious to ignore, but only if we could approach that song in a new way. Jim suggested a total reinterpretation of the original and I immediately thought of Valen whose voice is a complete force of nature.”

Speaking about the versions created for the EP, Lovett added: “These versions allow you to peek under the hood and hear some of the different elements individually, in particular I wanted to put the Acapella version out because the vocals really stand on their own as a powerful, emotive experience.”

Lovett created “Little Red Riding Hood” alongside his original score to the film, adding, “I think aesthetically the song and score informed one another along the way as both took shape.”
