David Lynch: The Art Life Soundtrack | Lakeshore Records

Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack to David Lynch: The Art Life, available digitally on May 12.  The album features original score by Jonatan Bengta, Danish composer and producer, also known as the artist The mOOnbird.  More album details coming soon!

The background score by Jonatan Bengta raise goose bumps” – Hollywood Reporter

Complete with a suitably erratic score.. Jon Nguyen’s carefully-calibrated ode to Lynch is in itself Lynchian. – Screen Daily

The Art Life’s’ own construction is colored by an understanding of Lynch’s aesthetic, from the serenely brooding, grainy textures of Jason S.’s camerawork to the thrumming, Badalamenti-channeling menace of Jonatan Bengta‘s score, which moves from swarming synths to sparse, dripping-tap keyboard plinks.  Indeed, if the pic’s soundscape leaves some viewers in a ‘Twin Peaks’ reverie, that may not be entirely accidental. – Variety

There are no signposts to Lynch’s work, just the incessant drone of Lynch, set to an original score that proves similarly hypnotic. – Little White Lies

Directed by Jon Nguyen, Rick Barnes and Olivia Neergaard-Holm, David Lynch: The Art Life made its worldwide premiere last September at the Venice Film Festival.  The critically-acclaimed film opened in select theaters on March 31.

DAVID LYNCH: THE ART LIFE

David Lynch: The Art Life looks at Lynch’s art, music, and early films, shining a light into the dark corners of his unique world and giving audiences a better understanding of the man and the artist. As he says, “I think every time you do something, like a painting or whatever, you go with ideas, and sometimes the past can conjure those ideas and color them. Even if they’re new ideas, the past colors them.” We’re invited in and given private views from Lynch’s compound and painting studio in the hills high above Hollywood, as he tells personal stories that unfold like scenes from his films. Strange characters come into focus only to fade again into the past, all leaving an indelible mark.
