Composer Jon Ekstrand Fleshes Out The Suspense And Drama Of A Serial Killer Story Amid Stalin-Era Soviet Rule In ‘Child 44’

Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack to Child 44, the new film directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) and stars Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road, Warrior), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Unborn), Joel Kinnaman (AMC’s The Killing, The Darkest Hour), Noomi Rapace (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and more.  Child 44 is based on the New York Times Best Seller and first novel by Tom Rob Smith.

The soundtrack features the score by Jon Ekstrand (Easy Money, Outside Love).  From acclaimed producers Ridley Scott (The Grey, Prometheus), Michael Schaefer (Exodus: Gods and Kings, The Hurt Locker) and Greg Shapiro (Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker), Child 44 opens in theaters everywhere on Friday, April 17.

A politically-charged serial killer thriller set in 1953 Soviet Russia, CHILD 44 chronicles the crisis of conscience for secret police agent Leo Demidov [Tom Hardy], who loses status, power and home when he refuses to denounce his own wife, Raisa [Noomi Rapace], as a traitor.
